This is a improved selection of Imperial Star that has outstanding yields and was developed for the canning/ processing market,
although it performs well for both the fresh and processing markets. This variety has a pear shape and is nearly spineless. It produces excellent yields of uniform artichokes with outstanding flavor, allowing for optimal recovery rates. It has a very hardy and vigorous plant, performing well in varying conditions. Its compact plant allows for easy manual harvesting. It also has a short vernalization period. Plants average around 90-120 cm tall, and produce a early yield of artichokes averaging 12 centimeters in diameter.
